The lung lobes function as independent units, each with its own bronchi and blood supply. When these lobes become edematous or affected by disease, they develop mechanical heterogeneity, which makes them respond differently to ventilation. This can lead to ventilator-induced lung injury.
Our approach is to treat each lobe separately.
